We are all humans. So we are all a goulash of struggles and challenges and fears and situations. A first step in addressing them is acknowledging their existence with a statement of “I AM… (fill in your specifics)”
AN EXPLANATION IS NOT AN EXCUSE
The key is to not get stuck there. For growth, it is imperative not to just end our process with that statement. Too often we use our “I AM…” as a defensive excuse or an abdication of our own power. By ending our own internal thought process with just “I AM…” the false implication can be that we are helpless to do anything about it.
AN EXCUSE IS NOT A RESULT
The key is to recognize that we are not victims. That we have options. That we can find paths to becoming victors.
When I listen to others describing their situations, the primary part of the conversation I keenly listen for is, “THEREFORE, I AM GOING TO…”
What is the game plan? How are you going to change things? What can you do to make things different?
That key additional part of our mental sentence is the source of our power.
Actions can then be taken based on a commitment to those plans.
“THEREFORE, I AM GOING TO…” CAN CHANGE YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES, YOUR CAREER AND YOUR LIFE.
I strongly suggest practicing adding that phrase to any internal and/or external conversation you have about your situations.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS?
