We wanted to let you all know about an incredible scoring incentives being offered by the State of Tennessee, After years of working on this, Scoring Rebates are now offered by the State of Tennessee are now available for your scoring projects in 2019 and beyond.

For those you who have not heard, earlier this year, the State of Tennessee passed a bill making rebates available for certain projects recorded in Tennessee. In a nutshell, here are the the projects that qualify:

– MINIMUM SPEND PER PROJECT IS $50,000. Maximum rebate to one company per year is $500,000. Rebate is 25% of the total monies spent in Tennessee. This is not a tax credit like some States. You spend over $50K and the state sends you back a check for 25%.

– TYPE OF PROJECTS THAT QUALIFY
o TV series scores
o Feature length movie scores
o Videogame scores
o Commercials
o Certain Documentaries
– TYPE OF PROJECTS NOT COVERED
o Albums of any sort
o “Library” music

Keep in mind that most all your expenses in Tennessee are covered, not just direct music related costs. Studio, arrangers, orchestrator, copyists, food, lodging and airfare (if purchased from a Tennessee based company) are all eligible for the rebate!

For those of you who have had to record elsewhere in the past because of lower budgets, a 25% rebate will just about eliminate the cost gap between recording your project in Nashville and some of these lower cost cities.
