About a year or two ago there was starting to be an increased awareness surrounding female media composers (in large part via efforts of the Alliance of Women Composers).

It was a gurgling effort, but very different than what had existed during the decades and decades that proceeded it.

Then, POW, there has been a HUGE and palpable shift that started around the beginning of the #metoo movement and other high viability cultural awareness discussions throughout all walks of life and business… including within the entertainment industry.

For the first time, there have been many, many requests from filmmakers, music departments, music supervisors and others actively wanting to learn about and hire more female composers.

Things have shifted and the results of those shifts will be defining the next chapters of media music composing in major and powerful ways.

The times, they are a-changin’
