If you are in the media scoring industry you or someone on your team better know your numbers.
In another thread someone made a lot of assumptions about the costs of recording a score in Eastern Europe without any facts to back it up.
AND based on his faulty math he decided he would pass on the project. (As it turns out his math was off by almost a million dollars).
Let’s do a group project and budget this proposed score as cost effectively as possible.
Let’s start by answering these questions:
1. How much do musicians charge per 3 hour session in Eastern Europe?
2. How many sessions would you need to record a 90 minute score?
3. How many sessions would you book with a full ensemble of 100 musicians? How many would be for a reduced size? What would your size breakdown be?
4. How much are choir members paid in Eastern Europe?
5. How many sessions would you need to add choir on 30 minutes of score?
6. How little could you pay for 90 minutes of orchestration and copying?
7. What is the rate for Eastern European studio?
8. How many hours of mixing?
9. How much for mixer?
10. How much to engage Yo-Yo Ma under ideal conditions?
