Inside of each of us gurgles colorful creations: Writers have stories to tell, painters have visions to unveil and composers have music to be heard.

How does one open up those dreams for others to see, hear and experience?

1. MAKE YOUR DREAM REAL

Actually compose the music you keep saying you want to write.

The catalyst for composing can be self-created, done on spec, done as a demo or as a commissioned work.

Commissions can take many forms including being hired to compose for a film, TV, game, stage, record or concert project.

Self-created and music done on spec or as a demo requires no outside patron or employer to launch its creation.

2. MAKE YOUR DREAM LISTENABLE

As obvious as this may sound, for others to experience your musical dreams, you must record them so others can hear them.

You can imply what you hear in your mind though a recording suggestive of your ideas or you can record those dreams fully rendered. There are infinite variations on how to record your dreams.

3. GET OTHERS TO HEAR YOUR DREAMS

Explore the best ways to get your musical dreams into the ears of others.

It is easier to get people to hear your dreams if they are predisposed to do so. That could be because they are fans, friends or you are already in relationship with them. It could be because they know your reputation, are impressed by your credits, are familiar with your prior work, responded to marketing/promotion or have had you recommended to them.

It is much more challenging to get strangers or those not predisposed to listening to want to take the time and energy to hear your dreams, but it can be done.

Imagine that to this stranger your dreams are hidden in some generic cardboard box.

The first step is to get that box over to the stranger using the best resources possible.

Next, you must figure out WHY that person would even bother to unwrap that box to discover what’s inside your box of dreams?

Think about it, what would compel YOU to want to open it?
