Deane Ogden posted about bullshit from a gender perspective in another interesting thread.
It made me ponder about bullshitting in general.
Bullshit, balderdash, boasting and bluster are among the very characteristics that compelled me towards a life in show business.
The bigger-than-life characters and their oversized triumphs and foibles that inhabit this sideshow are among the very reasons I wanted to run away with the showbiz circus in the first place.
Give me a kindred kind and big-hearted bullshitter and we are up all night celebrating with grand pronouncements and can-you-top-this gamesmanship. Name dropping, tall tale spinning and flights of decadent dreaming are earmarks of a night well spent with my fellow raconteurs on Bullshit Boulevard.
Honestly, if I hated the “Hollywood” game, why bother to move to Hollywood in the first place?
Make no mistake about it, Hollywood Bullshit is definitely a game. And I adore playing it.
It’s a Fun House loaded with surprising and outrageous twists and turns. A hypnotic and enticing journey through a crazed and vibrant Barrel of Fun.
Smoke. Mirrors. Razzle. Dazzle. Tap Dancing. Slights of hands. Twists of fate. Joy mixed with joy buzzers. Open doors and trap doors. Barkers, bluffers and blowhards. Carnies and con men. High hopes and huge hyperbole. Dreams come true and broken dreams. Wish fulfillment and wishful thinking. Sideshows and side deals. Derby winners and chicken dinners. High times and hard times.
Round and round it goes. ‘Cause there’s no business like show business.
It should come as little surprise that one of my favorite attractions at Disneyland is MR. TOAD’S WILD RIDE. Toad is a creative, resourceful narcissistic sociopath embarking on a reckless chase dodging weasels culminating in a playful journey to hell!
WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD BULLSHIT! 
For me, it isn’t something to be avoided, it is precisely what I love to luxuriate in. The glow of bullshit lures me. The gamesmanship compels me. The calliope of the showbiz circus is the hot air lullaby that soothes me to sleep.
Bring in the clowns. I’m already there.
