I will be forever grateful to one of my earliest employers who busted me when I did not come through on the task I was assigned.
I came in with a lot of wonderful excuses justifying why I had not delivered. Halfway through I was cut off by my boss who explained:
AN EXCUSE IS NOT A RESULT.
I look for people who specialize in results. I surround myself with employees and clients who do the work to find a way to get things accomplished.
I depend on those people because they are dependable.
Like many people, my eyes glaze over as soon as I start hearing excuses of why a person didn’t find a way to pull it off.
It is hard enough to make it in this business. Excuses vs. results is an incredibly self-destructive way to sabotage yourself and make it even harder.
