Hey friends. I just wanted to share the amazing thing that happened today because it is another reminder of how to be paid for your work. I have done a few films now with a filmmaker who I really believe in. She has always paid me something, but it has been super low. Today, along with thanking me for the last score and offering me a new film, she dropped this bombshell: “Any time you need a flight home to Aus, just let me know.” She is in the airline industry and can get me home to my family for a ridiculously low price. Given that my mum is in an ongoing fight with Parkinson’s disease resulting in me needing to go home more often, this is especially huge for me. This was a reminder that sometime money isn’t the only way your filmmaker can pay you. Working for trade is a viable path to explore. A cheap flight home literally translates into money for me because it was an expense I was going to have to cover regardless. Let’s get creative in how we make our living. Thanks for reading…..
