Someone just made me aware of this new forum for Film, TV and Media Composers. Congrats on your launch. Wishing you much success.

There is such a need for open discussions about this industry filled with substantiated facts and information as well as thoughts and opinions from a wide range of folks.

I hope it becomes a lively place for open and honest conversations by its members that does not need to follow the dictate or personal agenda of its leaders.

Towards that end, I have been asked to contribute to this new Facebook Page.

In hopes of “paying it forward” I would like to offer my services in helping composers better understand the media music industry.

Please feel free to post your questions on this forum and I will do my best to give you answers based in my three decades in the industry.

For background, I am the founder and co-owner of KRAFT-ENGEL MANAGEMENT, a boutique company representing some of the world’s most respected film, television, game, and Broadway composers including Alexandre Desplat, Danny Elfman, Alan Menken, Christophe Beck, Marco Beltrami, Jon Brion, John Debney, Henry Jackman, Elliot Goldenthal, John Powell, Mark Isham, Christopher Lennertz, Jeff Beal, Bear McCreary, Marc Shaiman, John Ottman, Heitor Pereira, Austin Wintory and Gabriel Yared.

I had the honor of representing such film music legends as Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry, Elmer Bernstein, Georges Delerue, Basil Poledouris and Henry Mancini.

In the past I also ran Varese Sarabande Records and was Head of Music for Cannon Films. I have also been a producer of such live music concerts as DANNY ELFMAN’S MUSIC FROM THE FILMS OF TIM BURTON, NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS LIVE AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL, as well as the Grammy Nominated ELFMAN/BURTON 25TH ANNIVERSARY BOX SET and the PBS TV Special, LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER: DANNY ELFMAN’S MUSIC FROM THE FILMS OF TIM BURTON.

I was on the faculty of USC’s film scoring program for a number of years offering the course, “So, You’ve Taken the Program, Now What Are You Going to Do?” I have also been a chair for Education Through Music- Los Angeles. I also produced the MAKE MORE MUSIC/MAKE MORE MONEY talks for the Society of Composers and Lyricists.

In addition to co-writing and co-directing the award-winning documentary, FINDING KRAFTLAND I have written scripts and sold pitches for music-driven films to Warner Bros, Disney and Sony. I am also the father of my 26-year old son Nicholas and 2-year old daughter, Daisy.
