TURNING SITUATIONS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE

Someone posted this elsewhere. Got me thinking of possible responses for the plumber:

1. Accept
2. Decline
3. Modify

Personally, I would go for #3.

It might look something like this:

“Interesting, I am actually looking for investment opportunities. How quickly do you plan on flipping this house? If it is soon, I would be willing to do the plumbing for no upfront fee in exchange for a share of the sale of the home. If it isn’t sold by then, you could pay me my regular fee plus a bonus for the delay.”

Whatever the outcome of that particular exchange, I might now have discovered a real market for such arrangements and start seeking out house-flipping partners where I contribute my services in exchange for a piece of the sale.
