So far Rachel Portman has scored 97 projects including thrillers, animation, dramas, period pieces, romantic comedies, war films, family films, love stories, bio pics and fantasies for such filmmakers as Jonathan Demme, Robert Redford, Lasse Halström, Garry Marshall, Mike Newell, Robert Benton, Roman Polanski, Wayne Wang, Diablo Cody, Doug McGrath, Mark Romanek, Beeban Kidron and Alan Parker.
Her first score was in 1982 when she was 22 years-old.
Her first major studio film came 10 years later after having scored 30 projects.
She won a Best Score Oscar for EMMA on her 47th project.
She has subsequently been nominated for two additional Best Score Oscars.
She has scored films at Warners, Fox, Disney, Universal, Miramax, Sony and Paramount.
Her career parallels that of Top Level film composers who are male.
