Karel Antonin: "Thank you for this thread Nicolas, I can't wait to hear all the works of other members of this group! I am posting one of my tracks that has been composed for a Czech-Serbian feature roadmovie Montenegro road movie. This track accompanies a montage sequence in which 4 main protagonists are traveling through the forests and shows all three of the themes that are used in the movie (one for the travel, one for the main protagonist/storyteller and one last theme for the whole group of main "heroes"). The whole score (60 minutes of music plus two original songs) has been recorded in 4 days with band of 4 players (accordeon, violin, violoncello+whistler and a vocalist) half a year ago. I would love to hear any feedback."

Brian Ralston: "This cue titled "Crooked Arrows Theme Suite" was intended and recorded to be used as the first cue heard in the End Title crawl for the movie. Later down the road in post, the decision was made to have a little "behind-the-scenes" actor, spontaneous rap song play over the credits (with the accompanying video of the actors rapping on set)...then that was followed by an original song written for the film. (Which was all the right decision). So this End Title score cue as heard here did not get used in the film, although it is pulled from a variety of other cues on the score. It is also an expansion of the original theme pitch I made to get on the film in the first place. That main theme never changed over the course of the film they liked it so much. (And yes...there layered in there in the middle is the ESPN Sportscenter theme as those rights were acquired for a scene in the film that required it). It was fun having the opportunity to incorporate that widely known song as a "counter melody" to everything else going on."

Marcus Thorne Bagalà: "Was feeling a little shy about posting a piece on here, so many neat cool pieces have been shared already.... but I was cruising through my soundcloud and came across this piece and remembered a kind of fun story about it and figured it might be worth sharing. I wrote this demo while I was working on This American Life's two part special this summer. After going back and forth a little bit with two of the lower level producers about the direction musically they were looking for with the music, we ended up with this piece. The prompt was sort of a "tweaked" nightly news theme, that grew and ended big (remember its a radio show and podcast, so big is relative :P). After working on it a bit everyone was feeling pretty happy. Right when I thought it was finished Ira Glass got back from a trip and hoped into giving feedback and after speaking with him a bit it was obvious he HATED the piece. Which he was very polite about, but it didn't seem like we were going anywhere with it so we decided to drop the piece and focus elsewhere. About a month later, right before the airing of the Episode I get an email asking for a tweak of this piece and find out that they're going to use it as the MAIN THEME for the one of the stories in Episode 2, which was this fascinating story about a group of teens in a refugee camp who to pass the time, decided to create a fake news show and document what was happening around them in the camp. Not really sure what the moral of the story here is, other than that sometimes all the difference between hating a piece of music or thinking its perfect, is context. This piece got added to the library at TAL and gets used quite frequently on the program as a whole so its been a constant reminder for me of that."

The instrument that I used is called Shourangiz, a costumized middle eastern instrument that I changed the strings and the tunning to make it sound less middle eastern and more friendly for western ears!(no quarter tones)! ;) This was composed 4 years ago but I still get comments about it, would love to know what you guys think about it! Nicolas Repetto: "Okay guys/gals, here's one of many cues I wrote for an indie feature this year based on the life of John Newton, the poet who famously penned the words to "Amazing Grace" in the late 1700s. In this scene, Newton gets promoted to midshipman, orders people around the ship, and then encounters some pirates towards the end of the scene. I had to address each of those sections and I had some fun with the orchestration."

I composed and arranged this track after reading Paulo Coelho's "Aleph", in 2012 and it was placed in 3 movies and played live in concert. We recorded 17 percussions, including Indian tabla. I played the piano, vocals by an amazing Syrian artist, and my sound engineer played the "Pshina" which is a Cicassion accordion."

I'm sharing a track from a horror feature I did called "The Devil's Dolls". This is during the opening scene of the film and introduces us to the theme of the serial killer in the film. It starts on piano and then as it moves into some action, it is played in the strings as a more aggressive version of it."

I would really like to share a piece I wrote for my USC screen scoring portfolio and hear what you all think of it! It was scored to a scene from The Danish Girl, demonstrating the division within the main character with polyrhythm in the beginning, seduction of his inner woman with a serpentine and seductive melody on the oboe, and the succumbing to his true nature about halfway through.
